Nandan Nilekani, co-founder and chairman of Infosys, has donated INR 315 crore ($42.7 million) to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, building upon previous grants of INR 85 crore. Nilekani, an alumnus of the institute, has been associated with it for 50 years and has previously contributed to the construction of new hostels and an incubator for start-ups. The donation is one of the largest made by an alumnus in India and will be used to accelerate the growth of the IIT and establish it as a global leader.
